Decarbing Your Cannabis

Decarbing Your Cannabis

Before you even think about making cannabutter, brownies or even your own topical lotions you may want to decarboxylate it first. Decarboxylation is the chemical process that converts tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA) into tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
Decarbing cannabis is necessary to get the high that some people hope to achieve when they consume cannabis. It also brings out the flavor of cannabis in the same way that toasting nuts and spices does. Having said all of that, raw cannabis still contains CBD and THCA and will have similar healing benefits without the “high”.

Preheat oven to 250°
Grind 1 oz. Cannabis in a clean metal grinder
Place ground cannabis in an ovenproof pan and seal tightly with several layers of tinfoil
Bake for 30 minutes or until your buds are golden brown.
Remove from oven and let pan rest for 15 minutes before removing the foil.
You cannabis is now ready to use.
